About Saqib

Saqib Iqbal founded the practice and still sees clients

Saqib Iqbal is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the owner of Eye Cue Mental Health. He also goes by Saqi. He holds the LCSW credential from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, license LCSW #78705.

He works with adults for individual therapy, couples counseling, and family therapy. Anxiety, depression, and addiction and substance use are common concerns in his work.

His approach draws from psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and solution-focused therapy. Sessions run on evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care. Saqib gives you tools to continue your treatment on your own time, outside the session.

In person in Cerritos or by video across California, you keep the same therapist. If your insurance changes, we work through it with you rather than ending care.

His path

The story behind Eye Cue Mental Health

Saqib opened Eye Cue Mental Health in November 2017 to close a gap he saw in care for people on insurance.

1

Master of Social Work at USC

He earned his Master of Social Work at the University of Southern California.

2

5 years in community mental health

Before founding Eye Cue, Saqib spent 5 years in community mental health in South Los Angeles. He worked with people experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, many of whom carried complex childhood trauma.

3

Seeing the gap in care

That background shaped his view of the gap in care. Private practices that feel personal have mostly left insurance panels. County programs accept Medi-Cal but often feel rushed.

4

Eye Cue opens in Cerritos in November 2017

Saqib opened Eye Cue Mental Health in November 2017 to close that gap, with a quiet private-practice office on Studebaker Road.

5

Supervising the team today

Saqib supervises a team of associate clinicians who serve Los Angeles County, Orange County, and statewide California through telehealth. He still carries his own caseload.

His approach

What Saqib believes about treatment

In our practice, we've built the care model around 1 core idea: treatment length should be based on clinical need, not a plan quota. Ask about this before you start, because it changes what sessions actually feel like.

"We don't operate on an algorithm sequencing you to a higher level of care or terminating services. Treatment length is based on your medical necessity."

Saqib Iqbal, LCSW

As Saqib puts it, "you are in charge of your treatment."

Solution-focused therapy His orientation
Psychodynamic therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)

His clinical method starts with learning the client's background. From there the work moves into a solution-focused orientation. Forward progress and goal achievement are the direction every session builds toward.

Eye Cue is psychotherapy-only. Saqib is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and does not prescribe medication. If a medication evaluation seems clinically useful, we will say so and refer.

Finding the right fit

Where to go when Saqib is not the right fit

Saqib's personal caseload is often full, and some needs are a better match elsewhere on the team or outside it. We have associate clinicians and 6 languages beyond English across our team. Ask about these options when you call.

A clinician he supervises

Saqib is the supervising LCSW for the associate clinicians at Eye Cue. He reviews cases and is accountable for care quality. If he has no openings, we match you with an associate who does, and if the fit is off, we rematch you within the practice. Meet our clinicians.

EMDR therapy

EMDR is available through a clinician on our team trained in EMDR. Ask about EMDR therapy and whether your plan covers it.

Another language

Six languages beyond English: Spanish, Farsi, Tagalog, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi, spoken across our team. Confirm the specific language at intake.

Medication

Eye Cue is psychotherapy-only. Saqib is not a prescriber. Ask us and we'll help you find a referral to a psychiatrist or connect you with your primary care doctor.

A higher level of care

Eye Cue is an outpatient practice. We do not offer residential, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, or inpatient programs. If you need one, we will tell you directly.

What one client said about Saqib

Telehealth across California

Online therapy with Saqib and our team anywhere in California

Saqib sees adults by video anywhere in California, and so do the associate clinicians he supervises. You can join from home, work, or wherever you feel settled, and keep the same clinician for as long as treatment runs. When it helps, you can switch to in-person sessions at our Cerritos office without changing therapists.

Statewide telehealth depends on your plan. Some Medi-Cal plans are limited to one county: L.A. Care, Carelon, and Health Net Medi-Cal to Los Angeles County, and CalOptima to Orange County. We verify your plan before your first session. See the full insurance list and county details.
