Can I see an online therapist anywhere in California?

Long waits to get a Medi-Cal therapist, often biweekly or monthly, are the most common reason California adults search for an online option. Eye Cue Mental Health was founded in November 2017 in Cerritos to change that.

Our clinicians deliver video therapy sessions to adults throughout California. Telehealth clients must be physically located in California at the time of each session. In-person sessions are available at 17215 Studebaker Rd., Suite 110, Cerritos, CA 90703, for clients who can reach the LA and Orange County area.

Continuity of care

Do you keep the same therapist by video and in person?

Big telehealth platforms assign whoever is available from a pool. At Eye Cue, your clinician is yours across both modalities. You can switch between online sessions and in-person visits with the same therapist. The therapy relationship, treatment plan, and billing stay continuous.

Founder Saqib Iqbal, LCSW, describes the model plainly: the same therapist either way. Clients often start on telehealth therapy and move to the Cerritos office when their schedule allows, or go back to video when travel is not practical.

Getting started

How does online therapy work at Eye Cue?

Four steps from your first call to your first session, with the same clinician whether you meet by video or in person.

1. Call us

Call 562-860-2891. We ask for your insurance card and verify your plan before you book anything.

2. Get matched

We match you with a clinician on our team. If the fit is not right, we match you with another clinician in the practice. You do not restart the insurance verification process.

3. Start your first session

Meet by secure HIPAA-compliant video from home or wherever you are in California. Weekly sessions run at the cadence your clinician determines is medically appropriate.

4. Switch to in person

Come to the Cerritos office any time. Same clinician, same treatment plan. Move between modalities as your life changes.

Treatment length

Does an algorithm decide how long my telehealth therapy lasts?

Some online therapy platforms enforce session-count limits or step-down protocols. Those end your access to a clinician when an algorithm decides you are ready. Saqib Iqbal, LCSW, describes our approach: "We don't operate on an algorithm sequencing you to a higher level of care or terminating services. Treatment length is based on your medical necessity."

No one is pulling the strings. You are in charge of your treatment. If your insurance changes, we work through the transition with you rather than ending care.

Coverage

What insurance is accepted for online therapy in California?

Eye Cue Mental Health accepts Medi-Cal, Anthem Medi-Cal, Blue Shield Promise Medi-Cal, LA Care, Molina, Cigna, and Aetna. Whether your plan covers online therapy depends on your plan and medical necessity. We verify your benefits before your first session.

Anthem Medi-Cal, Blue Shield Promise Medi-Cal, Cigna, and Aetna are statewide contracts and reach clients anywhere in California. LA Care and Molina cover LA County only. Call us with your insurance card and we check together before you book.

What we treat

What mental health conditions do you address via telehealth?

The services our clinicians offer by video statewide and in person at the Cerritos office. If you do not see your concern, call us; intake is the best way to find out if we fit.

Individual therapy

Individual therapy is the practice's primary service. Adults work one-on-one with a California-licensed clinician on anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD concerns, and life transitions by video or in person.

Couples counseling

Couples counseling is available by video therapy for partners anywhere in California. Sessions give both partners tools to name unmet needs and respond to each other.

Family therapy

Family therapy supports parents, children, and multigenerational dynamics. Clinicians work with the relationships shaping the household, not just the individual presenting for care.

Trauma therapy and EMDR

Trauma therapy and EMDR therapy are available through the practice. A clinician on our team trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing works with trauma and stress-related concerns. Ask about current telehealth availability and insurance coverage for EMDR.

Anxiety and depression therapy

Anxiety therapy and depression therapy are two of the most common reasons California adults contact us. Clinicians work through the patterns underneath persistent worry, low mood, and the sense that nothing quite resolves.

Medi-Cal therapy

We have held Medi-Cal therapy contracts since we opened in November 2017. About 70 percent of our caseload uses Medi-Cal or a Medi-Cal managed care plan, which is uncommon for a private outpatient practice.

Language access

Can I get online therapy in my language?

Clients often tell us they want a therapist they can switch to in person if they need to. Many add that they also want care in their first language and cannot find a match locally. Our team delivers sessions in six languages beyond English: Spanish, Farsi, Tagalog, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi, spoken across our team.

If language is a factor in your search, call us and we will match you with a clinician whose language fits. Language-matched video therapy removes the access barrier for clients in the Central Valley, the Inland Empire, and rural California counties where bilingual in-person therapists are scarce. See our Medi-Cal therapy page for more on coverage.

In their words

What do clients say about their California therapist?

A note from someone we worked with at Eye Cue Mental Health.

"This therapist has saved my life. Makes you feel great when you walk out of his office. Saqui will also give you tools to continue your treatment on your own time. Highly recommend him for people all ages."

Good questions

Frequently asked questions about online therapy in California

Still unsure? Call 562-860-2891 and we will talk it through, no commitment.

The American Psychological Association and the National Institute of Mental Health both document that video therapy produces comparable outcomes to in-person therapy for many conditions. Therapeutic alliance is the key variable. Who your therapist is matters more than whether you meet on screen or in a room. Eye Cue is psychotherapy only and does not prescribe medication.

Cost depends on your insurance. If you carry one of our seven accepted plans, your copay applies and we bill the rest. We do not list a cash-pay rate. Call us at 562-860-2891 with your insurance card and we verify your specific plan before you commit to anything.

Yes. All clinicians are California-licensed or registered pre-licensure associates under the direct supervision of Saqib Iqbal, LCSW. Telehealth requires the client to be physically located in California at the time of the session. We are a California-only practice and do not provide multi-state coverage.

Yes, Medi-Cal is one of seven insurance contracts we hold. Anthem Medi-Cal, Blue Shield Promise Medi-Cal, Cigna, and Aetna reach clients anywhere in California. LA Care and Molina cover LA County only. Whether your specific plan covers online therapy depends on your plan and medical necessity, and we verify before you start. Call us with your Medi-Cal card.

Anyone in California can start by video. You do not need to be near Cerritos for telehealth. In-person sessions at our Cerritos office are available for clients who can reach the LA and Orange County area. Statewide telehealth contracts cover the rest of California where insurance allows.

We reassign you to another clinician in the practice. You do not lose your place in the insurance process and you do not restart verification paperwork. Getting the right fit is something we manage, not something you navigate alone.

We work with clients through insurance transitions rather than ending care. Call us before your next session if your plan changes and we will sort the billing together. The therapeutic relationship is the priority.

Call us at 562-860-2891 to ask about current availability. We do not publish a specific wait-time window because it varies by clinician and by plan. We are open 7 days a week, 8 AM to 10 PM, including evenings and weekends.

Yes. You can move between video sessions and in-person visits at the Cerritos office with the same clinician. Weekly sessions are not biweekly, not monthly, unless that is what your clinician determines is appropriate.

No. Eye Cue is a psychotherapy practice and does not prescribe medication. Medication needs are coordinated with your primary care physician or referred to a psychiatric provider.
