The approach

What is South Asian therapy?

South Asian therapy is individual therapy or family therapy delivered through a cultural framework. It names what South Asian clients carry: family honor, the model minority myth, intergenerational pressure, and belonging to two cultures. We have served South Asian clients since 2017; many seek mental health support at lower rates because of stigma and the shortage of an in-language provider.

Many South Asian adults cannot find a therapist who speaks their language and accepts their insurance. Eye Cue uses psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and solution-focused approaches through a South Asian cultural lens. Therapy in Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi is available through Eye Cue Mental Health, confirmed at intake.

How it works

How do sessions work at Eye Cue?

Start by calling 562-860-2891 with your insurance card. We check your plan and confirm in-language session availability, including Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi. From there, we match you with a clinician whose language coverage and cultural background fit what you are looking for.

You choose in person or by video. See your therapist at our Cerritos office, 17215 Studebaker Rd., or join by telehealth from anywhere in California, the same therapist either way. Sessions run at the frequency your clinician determines is right for you, not at a session quota set by an algorithm. If the first clinician is not the right fit, we match you with another clinician inside Eye Cue rather than sending you elsewhere.

Coverage

Is South Asian therapy covered by insurance, including Medi-Cal?

Most South Asian-therapist practices in the Los Angeles top results do not advertise Medi-Cal coverage. Eye Cue Mental Health does. We accept Medi-Cal, Anthem Medi-Cal, Blue Shield Promise Medi-Cal, LA Care, Molina, Cigna, and Aetna. Call 562-860-2891 with your card and we verify before you start.

Whether your specific plan covers a given session depends on your plan and medical necessity. California's Department of Health Care Services confirms Medi-Cal covers outpatient mental health services when medically necessary. Private-practice South Asian therapy at Medi-Cal rates is rare; most culturally responsive South Asian therapists in LA work outside insurance networks. See our Medi-Cal therapy page for more on coverage.

Why Eye Cue

Why choose Eye Cue for South Asian therapy in Los Angeles?

What sets our culturally responsive care apart, in person at the Cerritos office and by video statewide. If language is a factor in your search, call us and we match you with a clinician whose language fits.

In-person in LA, telehealth across California

Our Cerritos clinic sits at the LA County and Orange County border, near the 91 and 605 freeways. You can start in person and switch to video, or stay on telehealth statewide. Same therapist either way.

Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi sessions available

Therapy in Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi is available through Eye Cue Mental Health, confirmed at intake. Sessions can run fully in your first language or as a bilingual blend of English and your parents' language.

Same clinician over time, no algorithm

Treatment length is based on your medical necessity. No one is pulling the strings but you. If your insurance changes, we work with you to stay in care rather than terminate.

Open 7 days, including evenings

We see clients Monday through Sunday, 8 AM to 10 PM. Most South Asian therapy practices in Los Angeles are closed on weekends. Evening and weekend slots matter for working adults.

A real clinic, not a county program

Eye Cue Mental Health has operated out of our Cerritos office since November 2017. This is a private practice. The setting is quiet, professional, and nothing like a community mental health agency.

You can switch clinicians within the practice

If the first match is not right, we reassign you to another clinician inside Eye Cue rather than leaving you to start over on a new waitlist.

What we work on

What do South Asian clients work on at Eye Cue?

Many clients come in for achievement anxiety and burnout, the pressure to succeed, to make your parents proud, to carry the family's expectations. Others come for the weight of family obligation, intergenerational conflict, and the strain of living between two cultures at once. First-generation and second-generation clients often process the experience of carrying two cultures and finding where they belong.

Underneath achievement pressure, isolation, and cultural adjustment, we work through the anxiety and depression that often follow. Family therapy supports older Hindi-, Urdu-, or Punjabi-speaking parents, adult children who searched for care on a parent's behalf, and intergenerational work. Trauma therapy addresses immigration-related stress, family violence, and the accumulated load of living across two cultural worlds.

In their words

What do clients say about Eye Cue Mental Health?

A note from someone we worked with at our Cerritos office.

"This therapist has saved my life. Makes you feel great when you walk out of his office. Saqui will also give you tools to continue your treatment on your own time. Highly recommend him for people all ages."

Good questions

Frequently asked questions about South Asian therapy

Still unsure? Call 562-860-2891 and we will talk it through, no commitment.

Yes, Medi-Cal is one of seven plans we accept. We also accept Anthem Medi-Cal, Blue Shield Promise Medi-Cal, LA Care, Molina, Cigna, and Aetna. Whether your specific plan covers a session depends on your plan and medical necessity. Call 562-860-2891 with your card and we will verify before your first appointment.

Therapy in Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi is available through Eye Cue Mental Health, and current availability changes with caseload. Call 562-860-2891 and ask. We will tell you whether in-language sessions are open and what your wait looks like.

You can blend. Many second-generation Desi clients read and work in English but feel in their parents' language. Sessions can run in English with Hindi or Punjabi woven in, or fully in your first language. Confirm the approach with your clinician in the first session.

Yes, sessions are confidential. A licensed clinician is required by law to protect your privacy. We do not share information with family members without your written consent, with narrow exceptions for safety. Knowing the boundary is a legal one, not just a policy, can help.

Tell us and we will reassign you to another clinician inside Eye Cue. You do not lose your place in the practice or your insurance verification. The match matters, and we would rather get it right than watch a client drop out because the first pairing was off.
